CAT & Genny – Half Day

Summary
When carrying out excavation work for utilities or other purposes, it is critical to ensure all underground cables, water, and gas pipes are accurately located and avoided. Theory Training:

1. Explanation of the “Safe System of Work” – HSG 47: Avoiding Danger from Underground Services
2. The importance of using cable locators
3. Risks of cable strikes and limitations of equipment
4. Understanding and interpreting utility plans
5. Marking up utility plans, identifying marker posts, covers, and visible signs of utility routes
6. Safe digging practices
7. CAT & Genny instructional DVD

Practical Training:

1. Hands-on use of CAT & Genny locators
2. Reading and scanning excavation areas
3. Using locator accessories effectively
4. Identifying buried services safely

2. Assessment & Certification

• Delegates participate in theory and practical exercises
• Completion of a multiple-choice assessment
• Each participant receives a certificate of attendance from Alban Safety
