Summary

Theory Training:

1. General fire safety awareness – understanding fire risks in care homes
2. Fire safety law and responsibilities – the Fire Safety Order explained
3. Fire prevention measures – reducing risks in day-to-day care operations
4. Roles and responsibilities during an evacuation
5. Emergency planning and fire drills

Practical Training:

1. Evacuation procedures in a care home setting
2. Hands-on practice with evacuation equipment (e.g., evacuation chairs, ski sheets, sledges)
3. Simulated fire drill and staged evacuation exercises
4. Safe movement and handling of residents during evacuation
5. Using fire extinguishers safely

2. Assessment & Certification

• Delegates participate in practical exercises and group activities
• Each participant receives a certificate of attendance from Alban Safety
