Housing Association Puts £160M Safety Works Up for Grabs

Housing association the Guinness Partnership is searching for contractors to carry out building safety improvements on its properties across England.

Up to six firms will be selected to carry out work relating specifically to external wall systems, which will see improvements to cladding, facades and balconies.

The framework, worth £160m, will be separated into two lots, one in the north of England and the other in the south.

In the notice, Guinness said three contractors would be appointed to each lot, although a firm can win places on both.

Guinness owns around 65,000 properties nationally, including 40 high-rise residential buildings and more than 380 medium-rise and complex buildings.

The company said it has an “ongoing programme of improvement and remediation works” that will run over the course of the framework, which will last for four years.

The social housing group added that “a fully defined programme of requirements” for individual schemes was not yet available for publication.

Work on the framework could also be picked up by other housing associations, it said. Suppliers have until 12pm on 25 November to complete pre-qualification questionnaires. More information is contained within the contract notice.
