marshal.jpgOn average around 30 people a year are killed and many more seriously injured at work when struck by moving vehicles.

In recent years being struck by moving vehicles killed more workers than falls from height which for a long time has been the main cause of fatalities.

These accidents could have been prevented if the right measures had been taken, which would include a trained and competent vehicle marshal.

Course Aim

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the hazards and associated risks caused by moving vehicles on a site. How to provide and maintain safe access routes for both pedestrians and vehicles, through the implementation of the correct control measures in order to reduce the likelihood of harm or damage occurring.

This dynamic and interactive vehicle marshalling course is designed for those responsible for supervising the movement of vehicles and pedestrians safely on and around a site.

Practical Techniques

  • Show good communication with driver and pedestrians
  • Explain hand signals and reversing route to driver
  • Give clear and precise hand signals to driver
  • Safely reverse a vehicle on site

Course Objectives

 By the end of the course delegates will be expected to:

  • Identify hazards associated with moving and directing vehicles and the reasonably foreseeable risks.
  • Use safe driving and work ethics to ensure that both employees and the public are free from harm when moving vehicles in and around the workplace.
  • Conduct clear and concise signals to drivers of vehicles on a site.

Examination Information

Delegates will be awarded a certificate on successful completion of the multiple choice assessment and outside practical assessment marshaling a vehicle.
