Asbestos Awareness Training Course

asbesdosawareness.jpgThe use of all asbestos containing materials was not banned until 1999. This means any building built or refurbished before the year 2000 could contain asbestos. Around 5,000 people in the UK die of an asbestos related disease every year.

Any worker liable to disturb asbestos while performing their normal everyday work is required to be trained. Every employer must ensure that adequate information, instruction and training is given to those employees who are liable to be exposed to asbestos during the course of their work.

Course Aim

The asbestos awareness course aims to provide candidates with theoretical training to enable them to demonstrate a good level of asbestos awareness that will enable them to identify asbestos and protect themselves and those around them from asbestos exposure.

Who Should Attend

All those involved in the building maintenance / construction trades who may encounter asbestos for example i.e. Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers, Pipe fitters, Demolition workers, Painters, Caretakers, Roofers, Shop fitters, Telecoms engineers, Computer engineers, Building surveyors etc.

Objectives

By the end of the course, candidates will be able to identify common asbestos products and know the general places where asbestos is found in buildings.

They will know how to deal with the identification of asbestos or damaged asbestos products and will be able to carry out their works safely in places where asbestos has been identified.

Examination Information

Delegates will be awarded a certificate of attendance on successful completion of the multiple choice assessment.
