Abrasive Wheels Training Course
The Provision and the Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 requires those people who mount abrasive wheels on grinding machines to be provided with suitable training and information.
This course is designed to give delegates the necessary knowledge and skills to do just that.
Course Aim
To help attendees identify the correct abrasive wheel to be fitted for the task and demonstrate to them how to change the wheel in a safe manner.
Who Should Attend
The course is intended for anyone who is required to change and use abrasive wheels in the workplace.
Content of Course
The course covers:
- Hazards and risks arising from the use of abrasive wheels and precautions which should be observed
- Methods of marking abrasive wheels as to type, size and maximum operating speed
- Methods of storing, handling and transporting abrasive wheels
- The functions of all components used with abrasive wheels, including flanges, washers, bushes and nuts used in mounting
- How to assemble abrasive wheels correctly to make sure they are properly balanced and fit for use
- Guarding
- The use of suitable personnel protective equipment
- The requirements of the law relating to abrasive wheels
- Advisory literature relating to the mounting of abrasive wheels
Objectives
By the end of the course delegates will know how to change abrasive wheels safely and ensure that they are fit for purpose.
Examination Information
Delegates will be awarded a certificate of attendance on successful completion of the multiple choice assessment.
