Risk Assessments

In order to maintain a safe working environment and therefore a healthy, safe workforce, you will need to perform risk assessments. By law, regardless of the size of your organisation, every employer shall make a suitable and sufficient assessment of the risks to the health and safety of their employees to which they are exposed whilst they are at work.

Risk assessments will help you to identify and focus on the risks that matter most in your workplace – the ones that have the potential to cause harm or serious injury. Risk assessments must be undertaken by a competent person.

All employers are:

  • Responsible for assessing the risks and seeing that it is adequately done.
  • Required to review the assessments and revise them as necessary i.e. following an accident, a change in company procedures or legislation, an introduction of new machinery or it’s no longer valid.
